My name is Lyndie, welcome to my blog! A little bit about me: I am a senior Environmental Science & Policy major and LGBTQ+ Studies cluster at Chapman University in Orange, California.
I enrolled in ENG 472 Film, Gender, Sexuality partially to fulfill my cluster and GE requirements, but more importantly because I know very little about film and want to educate myself about this medium. As a queer person, I have felt grossly underrepresented in television and movies, and the media I do see usually includes a “token gay couple” portrayed by two white cisgendered men. I believe that media is a powerful tool for education and promoting acceptance across cultural and personal boundaries, and I hope that taking this course will help me to better understand how to use the knowledge of less mainstream media to break those boundaries down. I am really looking forward to analyzing movies from a more critical viewpoint, and being able to express my thoughts with my newfound knowledge of cinema.
